Gentle is quite different from the conventional dry kibble you see in the supermarket or a pet store.
These foods throw their ingredients into a big pot and cook them with incredible temperatures before pressing them with intense heat until they form a convenient kibble. As you can imagine this destroys almost all of the natural structures of the food and removes much of the nutritional value.
At Gentle, we cook each ingredient separately to ensure it stays as close to natural as possible (for example our chicken is air dried and our rice lightly steamed) and we use specialist machines to only press these ingredients at low temperatures. The result is a convenient kibble that retains far more of the nutrients and enzymes that your dog actually needs.
As a natural product, our food breaks down with greater ease in your dog’s stomach allowing them to access more of the nutrients while preventing bloating or digestion issues.
This also means that your dog doesn't need to eat as much as they would with a normal dry food. You will need to feed around 30% less on average. Another factor that helps aid weight loss.

Gentle does not contain any artificial additives or preservatives. More importantly we don't use any fillers.
Most dry foods are packed with chemicals that can cause bloating and mess with your dog's digestion. They also sacrifice meat and veggies for poor quality filler ingredients (like cereals) which add calories but don't increase nutrients or add much benefit to your dog.
By avoiding these poor quality ingredients you will instantly boost your dog's digestion and also get rid of lots of unnecessary fillers. All of this can help them lose weight.
It's also important to note that good digestion also means that the weight loss will last. Your dog will be more satisfied and therefore is more likely to keep the weight off.

Why Gentle Pops are the perfect treat
Why dog's can't eat normal popcorn!
That really depends on your dog's preference and other dietary needs. Gentle Original is our most popular recipe and has a perfectly balanced variety of chicken and duck (easy to digest and full of protein) paired with veggies, herbs and oils that support everything from joints and coat to eyes and organs. It's the best all rounder really.
The fish variety is also packed with an incredible mix of ingredients that support all that the body needs. The main difference is that it contains only white fish (no hidden fats or oils from other animals) making it a single source animal protein food. This is important because some dogs are sensitive to chicken and other animal proteins while fish is much softer on the digestion. So if your dog has a sensitive stomach this is the one for you.
Just like the other, our Goat variety is perfectly balanced but the goat adds a unique meat source. Perfect for dogs looking for something different and unique. It also doesn't contain any grain (rice germ is not considered a grain) which makes it perfect for dogs with grain issues.

What Makes Gentle Pops Special?
This will depend on your dog but most clients see differences in as little as 1-2 weeks. Steady and healthy weight loss should then follow across the next 8-12 weeks.
The first signs will likely be less bloating and a stabilisation of appetite.
The key here is sustainable and steady weight loss not a rapid change (which can be risky and bad for long term health).
Always follow the feeding recommendations on the bag and ensure that there is fresh water available with every meal (to aid proper digestion).
How Many Pops Can My Dog Eat?
The general recommendations for all Gentle foods are to feed a percentage of total bodyweight per day:
Puppy (2.5%) up to 18 months (2%) Adult (1-1.2%) and senior (0.7%).
If you are looking for your dog to lose weight just use their desired weight for the calculation.
For example. If you want them to be 20kg feed them 1% of 20kg per day (200g). You may wish to make this transition gradually. For example feeding just below their current weight for a few days and then reducing over time.

Do Gentle Pops Contain Sugar or Additives?
Absolutely! On the product page you can select the subscription option which allows you to choose from 2-12 week intervals. The order is placed automatically and you will never run out of food.
This is perfect if you usually forget or if you face long delivery times.
You can also edit your subscription in your account. Cancel anytime, pause, change delivery interval or even change the product option.
Are Gentle Pops Safe for Dogs With Pancreatitis?
Yes, we have a smallbite option for the Chicken and Duck flavour. This has exactly the same recipe and benefits as the standard kibble. The only difference is that the kibble is 80% smaller making it much easier for dogs with smaller mouths and those that struggle with standard sized kibble.
